Blackhawks Snake Bite Cobras 45-0

Blackhawks Snake Bite Cobras 45-0LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 27, 2010) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks moved their 2010 record to (3-0) after a mauling of the visiting Las Vegas Cobras by the score of 45-0.  The score could have been much worse had they not implimented the running clock in the second half but all in all, this game gave all 80 Blackhawk players suited up a chance to play.  Longtime Blackhawk running back, James Mc Elroy got his first ever Blackhawk touchdown on a 1 yard run late in 4th quarter.

The game overall was not an indication of what the Blackhawks would have liked to see, but it allowed for them to work on some things offensively and defensively.  The Blackhawks were led again by (WR) Solomon Jones who had 5 receptions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day.  The Blackhawks also got some quality running out of (RB) Ronald Jean who had 3 rushing touchdowns for the Bird Gang.  Kicker, Mark Drake rounded out the scoring with a 34 yard field goal.  Rookie quarterback, Monty Long (Lane College) saw his first action of the season and looked pretty good (8-12 for 140 yds 1 TD -- 3 carries for 33 yds) in his Blackhawk debut.

Defensively, everyone contributed as the limited the Cobras to only 2 first downs on the day while sacking their quarterback five times and intercepting him twice.  The Blackhawks also had a 99 yard interception return for a touchdown by (DB) Kareem Larrimore called back as well as a Solomon Jones 62 yard onside kick recovery touchdown.

The Blackhawks return to action this weekend, July 31st as they host the visiting Valley Predators at 7:00 p.m.  This game will be part of a Quadruple Header which will showcase three other games at the stadium.  Games are at 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, and your Blackhawks finishing up at 7:00 pm.  For game or ticket information, call the Blackhawk team office at 323.297.3248.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 9, 2010) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks announced today the signing of former Idaho Vandal running back, Brian Flowers to a two year deal.  Flowers comes to the Blackhawks as a prized recruit that will be looked upon to come in and contribute right away.  Flowers was a standout running back for the Inglewood High Sentinals before transfering over to El Camino College where he became one of the top running back recruits in the nation.  Flowers holds the record at El Camino College for the most rushing yards in a season (1,557) which he accomplished in 2005.  "Brian has been on my radar for a couple of years now but timing is everything" stated head coach Tony Reid.  It would have been nice to have him last season but ideally everything has worked itself out perfectly.  Combined with Ronald Jean, Tyrone McKinney, and Ty Evans, the Blackhawks are primed to get back to their dominance in the running game.  "I couldn't have asked for a better group of running backs to work with", quoted Blackhawk running back coach, Desi Wells.  This young man is going to be something special and I'm just happy I can contribute to helping him achieve his goals says Wells.  Welcome aboard B-Flow!!!

Former Dallas Cowboy Looking for Breakout Season with Blackhawks

Former Dallas Cowboy Looking for Breakout Season with Blackhawks

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 3, 2010) -- When defensive back Kareem Larrimore signed with the Blackhawks in 2009, he was just looking to get in game shape and get ready for the upcoming UFL season.  But as things turned out, Larrimore ultimately became one of key pieces to the Blackhawks defensive puzzle as he had a very productive season at the cornerback position.  In 2010, Larrimore is looking to set the tone from the beginning and help lead the Blackhawks to a more than productive 2010 campaign.  "Im excited about the season", stated Larrimore.  Last year, I didn't know what to expect from this level of football but now I see that I'm going to have to be the Kareem from my Cowboy days.

Larrimore was a fourth round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2000 NFL Draft.  To date, he is the only rookie to ever start at cornerback on the opening day of the NFL season for the Cowboys.  Former Dallas Cowboy teammate Joey Galloway and defensive back coach Dave Campo both have stated on record that Larrimore is one of the best defensive backs to suit up in the NFL.  Former NFL receiver and Blackhawk supporter, Az Hakim calls him "Lil Prime" (comparing Larrimore to Deoin Sanders) from the days when they lined up across each other during NFL games.  "Larrimore is the business", stated Hakim.  This dude right here can strap em up right now and start on someone's NFL team.  "I remember watching Sportcenter and watching him return an interception 95 yards against the Saints".

After Larrimore' tenure with the Cowboys, he went on to play a few seasons in the AFL with the Dallas Desperadoes and Austin Wranglers.  Now Larrimore looks to add the same NFL passion to his play with the Blackhawks.  "Kareem has shown from the beginning of camp in 2010 that he's serious about this season and if he has to put the team on his back, he will", stated head coach Tony Reid.  I'm excited about the season and ready to hit the field with my teammates.  Last year I came in at week 4 of the season and the LCFL got a revised version of me.  This season it's gonna be totally different #41 out there.  Im bringing a little bit of the NFL to the LCFL so wide receivers, you have been warned.

Blackhawks Gore Bulls with Exciting 24-21 Victory

Blackhawks Gore Bulls with Exciting 24-21 Victory

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 19, 2010) -- The much anticipated game of the preseason lived up to all the hype as both the Inglewood Blackhawks and Carson Ragin Bulls put on a show for the packed house at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday night.  The home team, Inglewood Blackhawks (2-0) pulled out some last minute heroics to pull out a 24-21 victory over the Bulls.  (LB) Roy Otis blocked a Bulls punt attempt, recovered it, and scooped and scored with two minutes left in the game to lead the Blackhawks to victory.  The Bulls had 2 minutes to try to get in field goal range or score but the Blackhawk "D" was too strong as they preserved the victory.  The game started off bad for the Blackhawks as a bad exchange between (QB) Reggie Haynes and (RB) Ronald Jean was fumbled and a Bull defender picked the ball up and raced 27 yards for a touchdown.  The film shows shows the defender was down by contact but in a game this close, you cannot leave it in the hands of the officials.  The Blackhawks drove right back down and ultimately scored on a 5 yard Ronald Jean touchdown.  The Blackhawks took a 14-7 lead with a 95 yard touchdown pass from Haynes to (WR) Solomon Jones.  In another snafu in the game, (DB) Freddie Parrish of the Bulls didn't touch Jones as he went to the ground and Jones raced for the touchdown.  Solomon Jones finished the day with 6 receptions for 186 yards and a TD.  The Bulls came back and tied the game on a perfect pass by (QB) Brandon Brooks.  The Blackhawks drove down on the Bulls to put themselves in position for a go ahead field goal with 5 seconds left in the half.  Kicker, Mark Drake missed the attempt but an offsides penalty gave Drake another opportunity.  This time around Drake nailed it as time expire putting the Blackhawks up by 3 at halftime.

The second half saw more mistakes by the Blackhawk offense as (QB) Reggie Haynes threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown putting the Bulls up 21-17.  The score remained the same throughout the second half with both defenses playing great football.  The Blackhawks had 3 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, and 5 sacks on the night led by Pit Bull Player of the Game, Roy Otis.  With the score still 21-17 with a little over two minutes left in the game and the Blackhawks pinned at their own 7 yard line on 4th and 13, Coach Tony Reid decided to keep the offense on the field.  All in attendance knew that if the offense didn't get a first down, the game was over.  But Coach Reid called a QB quick kick which sailed over the secondaries heads and put the Bulls out of striking range.  This is when the Blackhawk defense got hungry and went after both Bulls quarterbacks which put us to the epic moment in the game.  On 4th down, the Bulls went to punt but Roy Otis raced in and blocked the kick and scored which gave the Blackhawks a 24-21 lead with the Drake PAT.  The Bulls got good field position due to an excessive celebration penalty which put them at midfield with under a minute to play.  But the Blackhawk "Darkside" defense pinned their ears back and caused the Bulls to turn over the ball on downs.

The Blackhawks will now host the Las Vegas Cobras of the WWFL this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium.  For game or ticket information, call 323.297.3248.

Blackhawks Silence Thunder with 16-13 Win

Blackhawks Silence Thunder with 16-13 Win

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 29, 2010) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks (1-0) kicked off the 2010 season on a good note walking away with a 16-13 victory over the San Diego Thunder of the UFAL.  The game started off in the expected way with 2 penalties on the opening kickoff.  The Blackhawks were flagged for being offsides and the Thunder were penalized for an illegal block below the waste which prompted for a re-kick.  The Blackhawk defense came out on fire with great intensity and pressure on Thunder quarterback, Justin Happ.  The Blackhawks were led by (DE) Doniel Galloway who had a marvelous debut for the Blackhawks collecting 6 tackles and 3 sacks on the day.  Doniel was instrumental in helping the Blackhawks sack Happ 8 times on the game.  (DT) Victor Fonseca (4 tackles 1 sack), (DE) Kori Dickerson (4 tackles 2 sacks), and (LB) Roy Otis (5 tackles 1 sack) all were effective in only allowing two completion's on the day.  The secondary kept the Thunder receivers in check with great coverage, good position, and some ferocious hits.

(DB) Eddie Hunter stood out on defense with great coverage and special teams (4 PR for 108 yards) which earned him the Pit Bull Energy Drink Player of the Game.  "Eddie had a great game and great energy which elevated the play of those around him", stated defensive coach, Brian Banks.  If Eddie plays at this same level all year long and force teams to throw to the other side, it's going to be a great year and record breaking year for the Blackhawk secondary.

Offensively, the Blackhawks dominated the line of scrimmage with their new rushing attack which includes (RB) Brian Flowers (9 carries 91 yards 1 TD), Ronald Jean (6 carries 62 yards), Ty Evans (3 carries 21 yards), and Tyrone McKinney (5 carries 38 yards).  The Blackhawks rushed for a total of 223 yards on the day while only passing for 124 yards.  "That was our plan of attack today", stated head coach, Tony Reid.  We wanted to establish our running game and solidify a comfort zone for our future opponents.  There were a lot of cameras in the bleachers scouting us so we only showed what we needed too.  We have a lot of work to do to get better but we won't cut off our players heads being that this was the first game.  (K) Mark Drake was the man of the day kicking 3 field goals (21, 36, 47 yds) to keep the Thunder at arms distance.

The Blackhawks will now take a 3 week rest and prepare for their next opponent, the Carson Ragin Bulls who they will host on Saturday, July 17th at home.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.  With the three week period in place, the Blackhawks will get the needed time to heal up some injuries.  (WR) Michael Ross (Fresno State) will be back from a rib injury he sustained in practice which kept him out of the Thunder game.  Also, (WR) Solomon Jones and (WR) Thyron Lewis both will be back for this game as their arena/indoor seasons have just concluded.
